As part of our continuing support of digital inclusion for all, we specialise in providing training and support for people who have had little or no previous experience of using computers.
Typically this is the over 50’s age group and we have installed and supported equipment in over 50 Sheltered Housing Schemes across Essex, providing training to 650 new users.
Our tailored training packages include:
Peer Support and Motivational Talk – An introduction to what digital technology can bring to the lives of those who have never used it, given by one of our Digital Ambassadors.
Introduction to the Internet:
A basic training package where users are given an introduction to using the internet for online shopping, email (through the government application MyGuideUK), Skype and any other area of interest.
Genealogy Training:
Aiding people to trace their family history; how to build their family tree and where to find relevant documents.
Digital photography training days
Showing people how to use a camera, transfer and edit pictures and save to disk for printing.
Support
IT Support contract giving you access to support including on-site support within 48 hours of first contact if remote solution not available.
An Open Colleges Network (OCN) training provider
MillRace IT Ltd is an approved provider of accredited training through the National Open Colleges Network. We provide a range of training courses from Levels 1 - 3 in ICT skills, computer recycling and customer service skills.
The flexibility of the OCN programme allows us to tailor accredited training courses to suit the needs of a wide range of organisations. We can provide training at clients' premises using our own mobile classroom or from our training rooms in Chelmsford and Witham.

For individuals or corporate clients who would like to improve their knowledge of topics such as spreadsheets, mail merge, desktop publishing or PowerPoint - Skills for Life - Literacy & Numeracy (OCN Level 1)
For people who would like to develop their ICT skills while improving literacy or numeracy. Courses include Job-Seekers' Literacy, Personal Budgeting and Spreadsheets - Skills training for older learners
A gentle introduction to computer skills designed for older learners who would like to use a computer, send and receive Email and surf the Internet. - OCN Accredited Training Courses
For those wishing to gain accredited training in in MS Office (Levels 1-3); Computer Recycling or Customer Service Skills
Work-based training
MillRace works with JobCentre Plus to provide work-based training placements in computer recycling at our workshops in Witham.
